Roses for Protection

Are you an empath, a Highly Sensitive Person, or do you just feel the energies around you a bit more than others? Working in a metaphysical store, my days are filled with people coming in who are looking for a way to protect themselves from others’ energies, or to find a way to navigate their days without being overwhelmed and exhausted.

A few years ago I stumbled across a brief mention in a book (which one, I can’t remember) that roses have been a form of protection for centuries. I did a little research on the web, and came up with this article, and it’s the only one I’ve found about the subject.

When a customer asks for guidance, I give a much shorter version than in that article; I tell them to imagine that they are surrounded by roses with the roses facing out. The roses will absorb and transmute negative energies and only allow in and out positive ones. Alternately, if there is a specific source of negative energies, I suggest that they envision that person/space/whatever surrounded by roses facing IN, to contain the negativity before it spreads. I’ve used this method with astonishing results, which is what led me to recommend roses before anything else.

I also mention to imagine a rose between them and another person, facing the other person at about solar plexus level, to keep things calm and safe.

I’ve had great feedback from these suggestions, so give them a try! No, it doesn’t matter what color the roses are, just imagine them!

If you’d like something even more boundary-setting, say while you’re in Walmart, I tell people to visualize that they are inside a disco ball; the dozens of mirrors will keep that chaotic energy bouncing everywhere but at them. They invariably laugh when I bring this up, but again, great feedback, so try it, too.

If you do, let me know what happens!
